THANK YOU!  ENJOY!

An immense thanks to all our students who submitted videos for our Talent Show as well as Fun Day It was such a pleasure to see you all having such a great time with these "virtual" school events!   Thank you for sharing your talents and engagement, everyone!  So much fun!!!  Enjoy the photos and videos by clicking on the links above.

CALL FOR PHOTOS

We are hoping to create a final slideshow to be presented after mass this Thursday.  We would love to include your favouite photo of remote learning.   Please, add your ONE favourite photo of your child(ren) learning on ZOOM to this shared album:  SAS VIRTUAL LEARNING 2020 by Monday, June 22.

TEXT BOOK/MATERIALS DROP-OFF

Thank you to all who returned student textbooks and materials.  Families who did not drop off the materials will be invoiced as the school will need to make replacement orders for the upcoming school year.  There will be one final opportunity to drop-off books: Monday, June 29 (9:00am - 3:00pm).   Please, contact the office immediately if you have any questions.

IF YOU BORROWED A SCHOOL DEVICE...

If your family borrowed a school device, you may keep it this final week of school.  The office will be open the week of June 29 from 9:00am to 3:00pm daily.  Please, return the school device before July 3.

SCHOOL DRIVE-BY CAR PARADE

June 24 at 11:00AM

We hope you can join us Wednesday, June 24 from 11:00am to 12:30pm to parade in your cars around the school block.  The teachers and staff will line the sidewalks (physically distanced, of course) along Arbutus and 8th Avenue to wish you all farewell and a happy summer.   We are asking that you take a few minutes to drive by with your child(ren) and allow us to celebrate with them, even if only through a car window at 6 feet away. Please, wave and say hi but keep driving to keep the parade of cars moving.

There will be NO 11:00am Zoom session on this last day of remote learning, so we hope you can participate in our drive-by parade.  I hope that these few minutes of connectedness will bring your children and our staff some joy to end this unprecedented school year.   Do not forget, however, that the true end to the year will be at our live-streamed mass at 9:30am Thursday, June 25.

There are close to 250 families in our school, so to help ease the traffic/congestion we are asking families with surnames ending A - L come between 11:00 and 11:45, and  families with surnames ending M - Z come between 11:45 - 12:30pm.

We ask that you remain in your cars and travel south along Arbutus then west along 8th Avenue.  Please, to reduce congestion, do NOT drive along 7th Avenue.  This event will occur rain or shine.  The Vancouver Police have been notified and will assist with ensuring traffic flows smoothly.  We are looking forward to seeing you Wednesday!

FINAL MASS Thursday at 9:30am

Please, join us at our final school mass of the year from your homes.  It will be live streamed on the St. Augustine Parish Facebook Page.  There will be a special presentation at the end of mass, including a farewell to our departing staff.  Mass will begin at 9:30am and summer begins immediately after mass.

DEPARTING STAFF

If you missed missed the announcement in the June Newsletter, please, have a look to see our staffing changes for next school year.  The announcement is on the last page of the June 2020 Newsletter.  Join us at our final mass June 25 as we honour our departing staff at the end of mass.

ESSENTIAL!  Parents, please, ensure you start each week by reviewing your class' Weekly Overview on the school website HUB.  The content is not only different each week, but there may be some exceptional ZOOM links and other information that your teacher has set up  and indicated for specific to the week.

HAVE A LOOK!  Please, visit our school website for a new Learning Commons and Literacy Resources link created by Mrs. Moffat.  As of June 1, PHE, Music, and French will no longer have LIVE learning blocks.

  • There are NO Learning Blocks Wednesday afternoons, only the 9:00am and 11:00am Learning Blocks.

A REVIEW OF KEY ASPECTS OF REMOTE LEARNING AT SAS

  • Do not forget to use the communication hub on our school website to begin your week.  Scroll down towards the middle of the page to view classroom links for announcements and the week's overview.  Teachers will have their links updated before Monday of each week.

  • In an effort to streamline communication between home and school and to make communication more efficient, all learning opportunities, lessons, and assignments will be explained and communicated EXCLUSIVELY on the website and through SeeSaw and/ or Google Classroom.

  •  SEESAW *- Kindergarten to Grade 3 and specialists (PHE, Music, and French) are using Seesaw to post learning activities.

*N.B. For Seesaw, parents/students should be using the CLASS app and NOT the Family App during remote learning to access the learning activities and to post work.

  • GOOGLE CLASSROOM - Grades 4 to 7 and specialists (PHE, Music, and French) are using Google Classroom to post learning activities.  Some intermediate classes are using a combination of Seesaw and Google Classroom.  Your teachers specify this in their weekly overview.
