MOvember at St. Augustine School

As most of you know, the month of November has increasingly and endearingly become known as MOvember, the month during which men grow a moustache to support awareness of and raise funds for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives.

Although not necessarily affected by prostate cancer, at SAS, over the years, our community (students, parents, teachers, and friends) has been affected and saddened by the effects of cancer. In an effort to help the MOvember initiative and to continue to raise an awareness of the real threat of cancer in any form, Friday, November 26, we celebrated "MOvember at SAS" day! It has become our tradition to celebrate this day the last Friday of November.

Students were invited to draw on, paint on, or glue on a moustache for the day (under, on, or over their masks!).

Students donated $2 to take part in this initiative, and all funds raised were donated to Prostate Cancer Canada as well as the BC Cancer Research Centre in support of MOvember.

This was a day of fun for our community with the very serious goal of continuing to raise awareness of the health effects of cancer and of the initiatives that aim to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths.
