REMOTE LEARNING UPDATE

A REVIEW OF KEY ASPECTS OF REMOTE LEARNING AT SAS

  • Do not forget to use the communication hub on our school website to begin your week.  Scroll down towards the middle of the page to view classroom links for announcements and the week's overview.  Teachers will have their links updated before Monday of each week.

  • In an effort to streamline communication between home and school and to make communication more efficient, all learning opportunities, lessons, and assignments will be explained and communicated EXCLUSIVELY on the website and through SeeSaw and/ or Google Classroom.

  •  SEESAW *- Kindergarten to Grade 3 and specialists (PHE, Music, and French) are using Seesaw to post learning activities.

*N.B. For Seesaw, parents/students should be using the CLASS app and NOT the Family App during remote learning to access the learning activities and to post work.

  • GOOGLE CLASSROOM - Grades 4 to 7 and specialists (PHE, Music, and French) are using Google Classroom to post learning activities.  Some intermediate classes are using a combination of Seesaw and Google Classroom.  Your teachers specify this in their weekly overview.

NEW!  Please, visit our school website for a new Learning Commons and Literacy Resources link created by Mrs. Moffat.

 NEW!  French, Music, PHE, and Library are adding OPTIONAL new  LIVE learning blocks as follows.  Do not forget to visit their weekly overviews on the school Communication Hub for the zoom links.  The library links will be on the new Learning Commons site.

COVID-19/ MINISTRY OF EDUCATION/ CISVA UPDATE

As I am sure you have seen on the news the last week, no announcement has been made as to a possible return-to-school date.  Please, rest assured that ample time will be given to you to prepare for any CISVA and Ministry directives around a return-to-school date.  We must continue to rely on science and data and the health authorities to inform any decision around this.  For any return-to-school model, the health and safety of our commnunity must be the priority.  There is so much to consider from all angles before any in-class instruction can be phased back in, including the practicality of physical distancing and the challenges this presents for an elementary school, within a grade level and across grade levels.  Only a thoughtful, thorough, and gradual approach will work to ensure everyone's safety.   I will be sure to communicate any new information as always as I receive it.

PARENT RESOURCES

Our Parent Resources link is now available on the school website as part of our Communication Hub.

Mary, mother of eternal light, good Joseph faithful and just.

Jesus, morning star so bright, in you we put our trust.

On this day we praise and thank you for the mighty works you do;

As we face this new reality, we keep our hope in you.

Amen.
