REMOTE LEARNING UPDATE
NEW! COMMUNICATION HUB
Do not forget to use the communication hub on our school website to begin your week. Scroll down towards the middle of the page to view classroom links for announcements and the week's overview. Teachers will have their links updated before Monday of each week.
In an effort to streamline communication between home and school and to make communication more efficient, all learning opportunities, lessons, and assignments will be explained and communicated EXCLUSIVELY on the website and through SeeSaw and/ or Google Classroom.
SEESAW *- Kindergarten to Grade 3 and specialists (PHE, Music, and French) are using Seesaw to post learning activities.
*N.B. For Seesaw, parents/students should be using the CLASS app and NOT the Family App during remote learning to access the learning activities and to post work.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM - Grades 4 to 7 and specialists (PHE, Music, and French) are using Google Classroom to post learning activities. Some intermediate classes are using a combination of Seesaw and Google Classroom. Your teachers specify this in their weekly overview.
Tutorials for both Seesaw and Google Classroom are now available on the school website just below the weekly overviews. Thank you to our partners Classmate for these resources.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
An FAQ resource will be posted on our school website early this week.
For now, one of the questions that has been asked is "Can my child go to more than one Learning Block and stay for the entire block?" The answer is YES. Though teachers may not be instructing for the entire block, they are there to support students who check in or would like to stay to do any asynchronous work assigned that week. If your home situation requires and if you adjust your home schedules so that it aligns with Learning Blocks, then your child can do asynchronous work in the presence of their teacher on zoom.
Parents, please, develop the routine of checking the SCHOOL WEBSITE, SEESAW, AND/OR GOOGLE CLASSROOM to start each day for any new announcements.
REMINDERS:
-
All students are expected to check in daily for attendance during at least one of the three Learning Blocks (9:00-10:00, 11:00-12:00, and 1:30-2:30).

COVID-19/ MINISTRY OF EDUCATION/ CISVA UPDATE
Covid-19 response – what is happening around the world:
A number of jurisdictions around the world are reviewing next steps and best practices in order to return to in-class instruction for K-12 students. Denmark recently re-opened schools while New Zealand has released a paper outlining its plan to return to in-class instruction. Tomas Pueyo’s article The Hammer and the Dance discusses the pros and cons of options, responses and measures taken by countries, specifically the U.S. The follow-up article, Learning How to Dance, discusses what has been learned and what needs to be implemented next. The Ministry is closely monitoring recovery planning efforts in other jurisdictions and incorporating this information into planning for B.C. to be implemented when the time is appropriate.
Provincial Covid-19 Update:
There are currently 1,853 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in B.C., which includes 29 new cases reported for April 24.
Mary, mother of eternal light, good Joseph faithful and just.
Jesus, morning star so bright, in you we put our trust.
On this day we praise and thank you for the mighty works you do;
As we face this new reality, we keep our hope in you.
Amen.
