Principal's Message

Dear St. Augustine School Parents,

Winter can offer challenges, not only in daily life, but also in our spiritual life. Now that we are able, and if our health permits it, we should be intentional about atttending mass in-person, particularly during this time of Lent.  Despite certain restrictions being lifted, let's continue to be prayerful.  Our routines may still be disrupted. We may still worry about ourselves and our loved ones.  In some circumstances, we may still find it challenging to be near family and friends.  Many can still be lonely.  Many are still alone.  Some of us may even need to fight the virus itself.

As we slowly come out of the pandemic, we realize that there have been many blessings despite challenging times.  Hopefully this has been for us also a time to think about how we live as a community, protect each other from illness, serve one another, and how to be part of the solution to a global crisis.   As faith-filled people weathering this storm, I believe we have been strong, that we have worked hard to meet these challenges, and that we have found new and better ways of serving each other and taking care of each other.

We celebrate Easter this April.  Lent officially ends Holy Thursday. That is when the "Triduum", the great three Days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday occur leading to Easter.  Easter, not Christmas as some mistakenly think, is the principal feast of the liturgical year. For Catholics, it is THE greatest feast.  I hope we do not lose sight of this during these challenging times.  It is my hope that we find the joys of Easter and the resurrection despite the ups and downs of the continuing pandemic.

As a faith community, let’s once again make this year’s Easter Triduum sacred and focused.  Though we are not quite out of the pandemic just yet, let’s find ways to remain close and to not be distracted, and let’s spend Easter present to our families.  April 17 is Easter.  Let us try  to fill our churches and let us continue to fill our homes with prayer and worship and hope.

Happy Easter, St. Augustine families!  He is Risen!  Alleluia!
